Dr. Beth DuPree, Dr. Stacy Krisher, & Dr. Catherine Carruthers to Receive PoWeR Award on Oct. 15th
PHILADELPHIA – Aug. 23, 2013 – Professional Women’s Roundtable (PWR) – a non-profit providing networking, leadership, educational and personal growth opportunities to a diverse group of emerging women business leaders in the Greater Philadelphia region – will present its PoWeR Award to Dr. Beth DuPree, Dr. Stacy Krisher, and Dr. Catherine D. Carruthers of Comprehensive Breast Care Surgeons and the Healing Consciousness Foundation at its 11th anniversary event on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 (5:30 – 8:00 p.m., PNC, 1600 Market St, Third Floor Atrium, Philadelphia, PA, 19102).

The PoWeR Award annually honors a woman or women in the Greater Philadelphia region who has shown a commitment to helping junior women advance in their careers, as well as a dedication to her profession and community. Recent honorees include LEADERSHIP Philadelphia CEO Liz Dow and Mary Seton Corboy, Greensgrow Farms co-founder and Chief Farm Hand.

The doctors’ practice, Comprehensive Breast Surgeons is located in Southampton, Bucks County. They strongly urge their patients to integrate healing therapies whether it is through clinical psychological therapy, spiritual assistance, grief counseling, exercise programs, reflexology, nutritional counseling, Reiki, Yoga, or massage. Dr. DuPree believes that “whatever it takes to help a person find healing and peace within should be an integral part of their treatment process.”

Dr. DuPree has received numerous awards for her medical work, as well as, humanitarian endeavors. Dr. DuPree serves as the Medical Director of The Holy Redeemer Breast Health Program, Adjunct Assistant professor of Surgery at The University of Pennsylvania and actively participates in breast fellowship education and training. Because of her strong dedication to patients with cancer, Dr. DuPree established a non-profit organization called The Healing Consciousness Foundation in 2007. The foundation funds holistic and wellness therapies for women and men living with a breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. DuPree, who received her medical degree from Hahnemann University in 1987, has written a book entitled The Healing Consciousness: A Doctor’s Journey to Healing. It is the true story of her journey as a surgeon who awakens to the healer that resides within her. The first edition was released in 2006 and in 2008; the second edition printing includes transcribed spiritual messages. Proceeds from the book are donated to The Healing Consciousness Foundation. A native of York, Pennsylvania, Dr. DuPree lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her husband Joe and their two sons. Dr. DuPree credits her accomplishments to her family’s constant support.

Dr. Krisher returned to her hometown in August of 2001 to begin a successful surgical practice. She provided a broad range of general surgical care; however, due to the growing need for advanced breast care in the Bucks County area, she decided to focus her expertise on diseases of the breast. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University and a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Maine Medical Center in 2001, after which she returned home to start her practice. She strives to provide the best, most advanced care for her patients in a timely and compassionate manner. Along with a busy surgical practice, Dr. Krisher finds time to participate in several community service activities and works as a consultant for Ethicon Breast Care. Soon after moving back to Bucks County, Dr. Krisher met her husband Dominic. They are the proud parents to twins, Dominic and Eva.

Having completed her fellowship training in breast surgery Dr. Catherine D. Carruthers joined the Comprehensive Breast Care Associates in August, 2007. Dr. Carruthers’ completed her breast fellowship training from Bryn Mawr Medical Center. She is a graduate from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She then completed her five year surgical residency in June, 2006 from the Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Alabama. She knew coming out of her residency training that she wanted to devote her career to providing the best care possible for women and men on their journey the treatment of their breast cancer. She is a dedicated wife and mother of a beautiful daughter and two sons.
The fee to attend the October 15th event is $20 for sponsors and members (events pre-paid), $40 for members (events not pre-paid), and $40 for non-members, and includes light fare and champagne.
