Renee Brizell

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2007. Hearing the news completely changed my family and my life forever. When I was diagnosed, it was such a whirlwind of emotions; I wasn’t sure where it was heading. Before my lumpectomy in March 2008, I had to undergo tests for weeks. Fortunately, my operations were a success, and I was so relieved. Following the good news, I realized that I had to live each day like it was my last, and that I had to take better care of my body. As if this wasn’t enough, I lost my left leg in a motorcycle accident in September 2009. But I pushed through, and try to wear a smile every day spreading this positivity to others as much as I can. In that way, I feel like I can help other women in times of need and crisis.

Now I consider my body a temple, and I take care of myself by eating right and exercising every single day. I owe a lot of my positive attitude about fitness and life in general to Dr. Beth Dupree and the Healing Consciousness Foundation. They really inspired me to eat right and exercise daily. At first I just wanted to lose weight but then I realized it was so much more than that; it transformed my health and my entire life. I see a personal trainer twice a week because the HCF provides this free service. This keeps me motivated and in shape. Last year, I also got to be a part of the bi-annual fashion show. In the fashion show I got to share my experience and get to know so many others like myself that the HCF has helped. It was absolutely inspiring. My personal trainer made me do pushups on stage. I was so scared at first but I received so much love and support; I could not believe it. Everyone was so impressed by my fitness too! That and the whole experience in general gave me so much confidence which is something I struggle with only having one leg. The HCF has changed my life for the better. I feel so blessed to be alive today and I owe it all to the HCF and their positivity, support and incredible services!
